About United Campervans

When we first established the United Campervans brand our aim was to provide our clients with a product they knew they could trust.  Our mantra became “excellent campervans, excellent people, an excellent holiday in our beautiful land” and that is the philosophy that today remains the core ethic behind our premier fleet.

Rather than risk diluting the quality of our product and service we have chosen to remain dedicated exclusively to the motorhome business within the market we know best - New Zealand.   Since taking that decision we have become one of New Zealand's top motorhome brands, enjoying a solid reputation of honesty, excellence and demonstrable commitment to sustainable tourism practice both within the New Zealand tourism industry and with our hirers.

Since its creation in 1991, the United brand has been synonymous with a standard of product and service that has earned us an enviable international reputation from travel industry partners and hirers alike.

This reputation has been recognisee by two industry ’firsts’. In April 2003, United Campervans became the first motorhome company to receive New Zealand tourism’s official quality standard, ‘Qualmark’, and in October 2004 we became the first rental vehicle operator in the world to achieve the prestigious EarthCheck Benchmarked Certification standard.

EarthCheck

EarthCheck  is based on Agenda 21 and principles for Sustainable Development endorsed by 182 Heads of State at the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992.

It provides companies, communities and consumers with a path to sustainable development within the travel and tourism industry worldwide.

Our commitment to the EarthCheck programme is ongoing, and since our world first in achieving EarthCheck benchmarked status we have worked towards, and in 2011 achieved, prestigious Gold Certified level.  We currently remain the only motorhome rental company in New Zealand to hold EarthCheck Gold Certification.

From 2006 to 2012 we have taken steps to mitigate the negative environmental impact of carbon emissions from our fleet by sponsoring the planting of over 300,000 native New Zealand trees on Motuora Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf.  Motuora is a Department of Conservation sanctuary for endangered birds, insect and reptiles, and a nursery for Kiwi chicks.
